Summer 2010 Sci-Fi TV Shows
The summer TV season has started and a few of my favorites are back:
This campy sitcom has returned for it’s fourth summer season. Past seasons have explored strange experiments gone awry, secret underground labs abandon by the government and a mysterious object that looks a lot like the crystaline entity off of Star Trek Next Generation. This season starts with a time travel episode back to 1948 Eureka, where Carter and company accidently alter the timeline. When they return to 2010, things are not quite right. Stay tuned for episode 2.
I watched this last season mostly for the steampunk gadgetry and Arty was cool. Near the end of the season they added the young Claudia, as a rogue hacker, who was adopted into the crew. The show centers around a special FBI unit that guards a government warehouse full of mysterious scientific apparatus. Most of the episodes involve the agents collecting more artifacts to put in the warehouse. This season begins with HG Wells being thawed out of a “bronzed” stasis. She (yes that’s not a typo) give the crew quite a chase. I think we may see more of her this season.
This is a great British show about a “typical” IT department going through their everyday antics. It’s on it’s fourth summer season now, so apparently it’s a hit in the UK. Like the American show “Big Bang Theory”, it is more about zany antics than science. Still, if you can find a way to view it, it’s worth the watch.
After being off the air for many years, this fine sci-fi cartoon is back for it’s sixth season. The eyePad episode is my favorite new episode so far. Kudos to creator Matt Groening for a job well done.
These gems will hold us over until the fall, when Fringe, Big Bang Theory, Merlin, Stargate Universe and Sanctuary return. Sadly, Legend of the Seeker was not renewed.
